Post subject: Help with searching Metryki indexes
Hello, I've been searching for my grandparents village in Poland for several years and I even hired a polish genealogist in 1015, but no success. But the post from dnowicki "Help needed in finding birth town. Obludzien, Lomza" caught my attention. Finally someone else is searching the same area very close to my target area. I did not know that there was a catholic parish in Wegrzynowo and I was even more suprised to learn that the parish priest in the late 1800s had the same surname as my grandfather and great grandfather.
The village My relatives lived is Elzbiecin, and the reason I believe I have narrowed it down to near Makow is for several reasons maybe too many to list but the most impelling is that my grandmother's maiden name was Roslan. I referenced that name on Iwona Dakiniewicz's website Iwona's Sources and it listed Wegrzynowo,Ciechanow, Russia, and Elzbiecin is approxamately 1 km away. Also on their 1940 US census report they listed their hometown in Poland as Ciechanow.
I am searching for a birth record for Josef Kozlowski born 1889 or 1890, his father's name was Franciszek Kozlowski and mother's name was Lmniilia ( Amelia) Zarnickia or Zarnowska. and a marriage record for Josef Kozlowski and Stanislawa Roslan married around 1908- 1910. they also gave birth to a daughter Helena in 1910. Josef had a brother John born in 1894, and a sister Bronislawa born in 1896.

Tim,
Here is Wladyslawa Kozlowska's birth, which closes all findings by Gilberto. I guess from this record (the only name is Kozłowski!) that the priest Kozlowski belongs to the family too.
The given name Władysława being totaly impossible to adapt in English, my guess is that Helena was her other given name.

To Magroski and Elzbieta thank you, thank you, thank you! This is the information I've been looking for for quite some time. I had previously tried to search the indexes but given my lack of knowledge I just gave up. Now I have more names to follow up with and hopefully find out if I would have any distant relatives living in the area. At least if I decide to do a forefathers traces tour the researcher will have a good starting place. Thank you both again, Tim.
