I am trying to trace cousins or aunts who may live in Poland. My father was Piotr Sikorski. He was born in Kisielany Zmichy on 10 February 1928. His father was Antoni Sikorski, a farmer and his mother was Kisielinska Kasimiera.

Dad left Poland during WW2 and arrived in Australia in the early 1950s. He returned to Poland in 1974 and met up with family.

I believe that Dad had two sisters who were older than him- possibly they were twins. I believe that I was named after one- Barbara. Photographs I have show Dad with a woman who looks like a sister and two younger people, a man and a woman, who may be her children.

Before his death Dad lived in Rockhampton and in Biloela in Queensland Australia and I think that he corresponded with family in Poland.

Any help in getting in touch with family would be appreciated.

Hi Barbara,
There is a Barbara Czerkawska that has a tree at MyHeritage. Her mother was Marianna Opierowiec (maiden name Sikorska) who was born 19 Aug 1925 in Kisielany Żmichy. Marianna's parents were Antoni Sikorski and Kazimiera Sikorska (maiden name Kisielińska). Kazimiera was born Apr 1896 in Kisielany Żmichy. Her parents were Tomasz Kisieliński and Bronisława Kisielińska (maiden name not mentioned). Marianna is the only child Barbara has entered for Antoni and Kazimiera, but it certainly looks like she is your Piotr's sister. Marianna died 18 Jan 2011.

Thanks Cheri, I've left a message on her Facebook page so hopefully I'll get a reply. I'll follow up on the MyHeritage site later today. I'll let you know if I get a response
