Post subject: Looking for information on Cwynar and/or Cwiakala
Looking for information on my grandfather Frank Cwynar (my understanding is this spelling is CORRECT) immigrated around 1905 from Orzechówka, Podkarpackie, Poland to New Castle, Pa. His parents were George Cwynar and Krystyna Myrta.
My Grandmother Angeline Cwynar (Cwiakala) was from the same area and her parents were Joseph Cwiakala and Mary Prejznar.
I have not even been able to find the surnames listed in most site that I have tried.
Any information or direction to go would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
Yes, Cwynar is correctly spelt. Cwiakała, too. (www.herby.com.pl)
Franciszek arrived at Ellis on May 3, 1904, ship Vaderland, sailing from Antwerp. He came with a Jan, and both were going to meet a brother Tomasz. Nothing less than 15 Cwynar from Orzechowka arrived at Ellis. (check www.stevemorse.org).
There is also a Jozef Cwiakala, 48 years old, from Orzechowka, going to his friedn Cwynar, in Allegheny, PA.
Could not find any records online.

Hi Karen,
Cwynar is also one of names from few villages (Markowa, Albigowa, Gać, ...) nearby Łańcut (we had here on PO people interested by these villages.
The distribution of name Cwynar in today Poland is here
http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/cwynar.html
With clear concentration in south-east of Poland (three red spots are Łańcut, Brzozów (Orzechowka is here), and Jarosław.
Best,
Elzbieta

Thanks Elzbieta,
I believe I need to concentrate on Brzozow (Orzechowka) because that is on my Grandfather's papers (what little was kept). Sad what people get rid of.
Thanks again
Karen
