Hi,

My grandfather was born in Łuniniec in 1913 and I'm looking for any records about him.
Does anyone know in what archive Łuniniec birth certifications/records are stored (if they survived the WWWII)? Can it be in the district of Pinsk?
I looked over the internet and couldn't find nothing when searching in English.

Thanks,
Ilan

Ilan,

I tried to understand the path from Łuniniec (today Belarus) to Dzierżoniow (West of today Poland), as it is more than 1000 kilometers, see attached map, with names in today's countries:

Luninets,+Belarus/Dawidgródek,+Brest+Region,+Belarus/Stolin,+Belarus/Horodno,+Brest+Region,+Belarus/Sarny,+Rivnens'ka+oblast,+Ukraine/Kowel,+Volyns'ka+oblast,+Ukraine/Dzierżoniów,+Poland/

The answer is from railways: Sarny (today Ukraine) was a large railways crossection after 1902, there was a train from Łuniniec to Sarny, passing eastward of Horodno, and a line going from Kowel to Kiev.
See also an old map http://www.mapywig.org/m/WIG_maps/series/100K_300dpi/P41_S43_HORODNO_1928_300dpi_bcuj298452-289393.jpg

Some of BMD records from former Poland in that area are in AGAD, http://agad.gov.pl/inwentarze/testy.html
I do not see Łuniniec there, alas.
Other sources, when existing, are on per religion basis.

You can find some information on administrative organisation of województwo poleskie between WWI and WWII here
https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojew%C3%B3dztwo_poleskie

Sorry, not a real help.
Best,
Elzbieta

Thanks you Elzbieta for sharing this info.

Actually, my grandfather served the polish army in WWII from 1943(?)-1945, was wounded in the arm and was taken into prison by the Nazis and somehow they realist him back.
I assume that the record in reference site have the possibility of a mismatch and therefor I should confirm it I sent few emails for trying to confirm this info.
I have also contacted with the polish army archive trying get some details and I'm waiting their reply.

Thanks,
Ilan

Ilan,

Do you mean http://www.straty.pl ?
I entered the name Frumkin, got an answer with a list of 11 cases (the first 3 seem be the same person from Łuniniec).
One of items is Symeon.
I wish you success in finding your records.
