| I am attempting to follow an ancestor through vital records from various parishes. As a consequence of his job as a forest ranger (or forest guard) in the imperial Russian Forestry Service in the first half of the 19th century he moved around a lot. Is anyone aware of records pertaining to men in the Forestry Service or who held government jobs, specifically in and around Przasnysz powiat? I can locate him in Ulatowo-Slabogora (Chorzele parish) and Dobrzankowo (Bogate parish) through primary sources, and Gutowo (Nowa Wies parish, Ostroleka powiat) through secondary sources (children's marriage records). His family and descendants eventually settled in Lipa, where the Forest Service maintained a station for the forest guards.
I suspect that he primarily worked in different areas within the Przasnysz Government Forest, which had and continues to maintain headquarters on a small settlement called Przejmy. I have contacted the current Forest Service there, and they provided me with some general information from the time period but did not know where to look for more individualized records. Thanks! |
