In the old polish tradition the forms of the surname of married women had a suffix that would indicate that the surname came from the husband. The suffix was: -owa, for example the wife of Szewc was Szewcowa, the wife of Piela was Pielowa or -ina, -yna, for example: Zaremba and his wife Zarembina, Kościuszko and Kościuszczyna.
So, it is possible that Ewa's first husband's name was Sawczyk, and that is why she was called Sawczyszyna.
Nowadays, this rule is dissapearing, sometimes the ending -owa is still in use (but never in the formal language and in the official documents).
