Post subject: Searching for Marriage record for 4th Great Grandparents
Hello,
I am searching for records for my 4th Great Grandparents Karol & Katarzyna Masiak in Dabek my 3rd Great Grandfather was born about 1783. I am unable to find any records on Geneteka. Any suggestions On where I could find records for the 1700's for Dabek would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,
This does not look promising. The church in Wyszyny Koscielne (Dabek belongs to) burned down in 1787, and the church records could have been lost in this fire.
I look at indexes from the parish Wyszyny Koscielne and can see the first surname Maciak / Masiak is noted:
Birth - from 1809
Marriage - from 1799
Died - from 1828
So may I ask if the family was originally from this parish?
Do you have the birth record of your 3rd Great Grandfather, born about 1783? Based on your info, I would think it is Franciszek. He was married to Apolonia Stando January 3, 1808. And died in 1831. I have his death record in front of me, and can read that he lived and died in Dabek, but it is not written if he was born there. This strengthens the suspicion that the family moved to Dabek at a later date.
But from where? Not many possibilities. Suggest that you first check neighboring parishes: Zurominek and Stupsk. Special Stupsk. Also check for first names only.
Question also whether the first names of parents given in the death record of Franciszek (from 1831) are correct? In parish Stupsk I see a combination where the parents are Kazimierz (not Karol) and Katarzyna. They married in 1785. That couple has several children, including a son Franciszek, born 1786.
Many unanswered questions.
Wishing you success,
- Barb

Hello Barb,
Thank you for your reply and assistance. You are correct my 3rd Great Grandfather was Franciszek. All I have for Franciszek is his death record and the marriage record of my 2nd Great Grandfather Jozef. I do not know if they are from Dabek or moved there, I was assuming that they were from Dabek since it stated so in the death record. I did a quick search on Geneteka and did see that they list the marriage record of Franciszek and Apolonia Stando in Wyszyny Kościelne in 1808, however it only lists the index. It is one of the first marriage records listed for Masiak in Wyszyny Kościelne. However it does not show any scans though, am I correct in assuming that if I can find scan the record may give me more information on where he was born and his parents? Thank you.
Chuck

Hi Chuck,
I know that Franciszek and Apolonia married on January 3, 1808. That's what I can read in "sumariusz".
Apolonia was born in 1788, so she was 20 years old when she married Franciszek (see Genetyka). She remarried on June 7, 1832 to Mikołaj Jaworski. Mikołaj died in 1837. So she died as Jaworska if she did not remarry.
Do you need more help?
Best regards,
- Barb
