Post subject: 19 year old letter never translated
My great grandfathers sister wrote me a letter in 1993 she was 87, I have never gotten it translated.  I live in rural East Tennessee and very few polish people around, now with the internet I was hoping I could find someone that could translate this letter for me or know of how i can do it ..I tried to translate word for word with babylon but the hand writting has me questioning letters. if any one could please help me I would greatly appreaciate it,

tam się ożenił z Anielą Konefał ona zmarła na zawał serca w domu tak pisał Franek a co do pierwszej żony Franka Zofia Zając zmarła na gruźlicę tak pisał Franek ja tam nie byłam i nie widziałam jej to piszę co on pisał do swoich rodziców to ja wiedziałam o tym bo oni mówili też i bardzo płakali za nią i za wnuczkami i kazali mu żeby dzieci wszystkie przywiózł do nas i zaraz przywiózł ale nie myślał ale nie myślał wyjechać do stanów miał się żenić ale mu to nie wyszło i później wyjechał też nic dobrego
słuchaj Pawle(?) Zofia Zając pochodziła z Niska blisko Tarnobrzegu a gdzie pochowana to naprawdę nie wiem tyle wiem że pierwszy raz wyjechał z Polski do kolegi do miasta Garfield(?) później do Chicago tyle wiem o nim ale gdy pojadę do rodziny mojej może się coś więcej dowiem to ci na pewno napiszę a jak nie wiedzą to ci nie napiszę

What I know and remember that you write.
I still have a good memory.
You are certainly Staszek Gajda grandson who was already dead.
He had two daughters very nice
and took the men too nice
Pola (Apolonia) sent me a picture.
I am very pleased
My family is very nice.
As for Pola - I raised her well.
When her father brought her to my parents
it took eight months
but they all graduated from school
(done after seven classes)
they began to think to go to the United States to his father.
In my parents they were right.
There was a lot of people to work
because there were many factories
and my father was buying a lot of horses
and was a good connoisseur of horses
and flew business
and people working
he had 33 acres of land of good.

THANK YOU THANK YOU ...I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this, I have had this letter since 1993, back then I didnt have the internet and a way to get this translated. You are very kind to do this and I really appreciate it. Now I know my GGrandmother died from turberculoses and not at child birth. Now I am going to quick concentrating on Garfield NJ and look for Hospitals back then.

I was raised in Garfield, NJ and born in Passaic, NJ. Garfield is a small town in Bergen County, NJ about 15 miles outside New York City. It has no hospitals. The nearest town that has hospitals and which likely had hospitals in the early 1900's is Passaic, NJ. My paternal grandparents lived in Garfield and their home was one block from Morris Avenue - I know the street well !
A cousin of mine was an assistant pastor and then pastor at Holy Rosary church in Passaic for many years. However, at the time your family was married there, pastor there was most likely Canon Kruczek (I think I have the spelling correct). Finally, my grandparents lived on Pacific Avenue for years and years. This is indeed a very small world. Please feel free to contact me. I don't know, but I may be able to put you in touch with some people who know/knew your family. Paula

that is very interesting, I have a picture of my Grandfather Stanley when he was six I think was taken on Morris street, When Frank Francesik Returns to Garfield after taking his children to Poland, he states he is staying with his brother in law John Socha, he is one street over Pacific ave. His wife is Victoria, I was thinking she would be related to franks wife Zofia and her maiden name might be Zajac. the Sochas are there in 1900, 1910,1920,1930, and have several children, I havent been able to find anything out about Victoria, Looking forward to corresponding with you! Thank you for your reply and help!

thank you I found Zofie Gajda death certificate, now I just have to wait on the original , the spelling was Sophie Gida and she died in 1921 in Garfield New Jersey.
