Hi Everyone,
I found this manifest. This is only a possibility for Isse. I just thought it was interesting for the father is Solomon. He is going to his Uncle's in New York. I would keep this record in the "possibility folder".
Regards,
Trish

Hi Trish,
It is an interesting manifest. As you pointed out, his father's name is Solomon which is a plus. His age is very close to what is expected. On the cautious side, he is from Łódź rather than Warsaw (or the Warsaw area) as expected. He is a tailor, which was a quite common trade for Jews in Łódź, a city where textiles was the major industry. I would guess that if you were a trained tailor as a young man, you would be likely to keep it up after you emigrated. I don't remember seeing anything in the records we have for Isse so far that would indicate he was a tailor. I agree with you that the "possibility folder" is the right place to keep this one.

Thank you, that is really exciting! So what do you suggest I do next - it seems looking for those relatives and governorates would be useful? Are there Polish archives to look into?

Oh wow somehow I missed the manifest that's possible for Isse - that truly is interesting, and my mother actually thought that he was potentially from Lodz! We had found (but I am not sure where, sadly) info that Solomon and his wife had been living in Lodz. This very well may be the correct manifest!
If it says Poland on it - could this mean that he was, in fact, a Polish Jew?
From my mom re: the ship manifest for Isse -
"That could very well be the one. He was a tailor. I saw that entry, but I dismissed it because I was going by the marriage certificate that I had that used the name of Pearlstein for his father."

That appears to be spam. Does anyone have suggestions of how to move forward now that we have all this documentation?
