Post subject: Machow/Miechocin parish
Hello all! I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I'm searching for records on an ancestor who was apparently born in Machow. Through research I've learned that the village of Machow was part of the Miechocin parish in the Tarnobrzeg administrative district (and I don't think Machow exists anymore).
I haven't been able to turn up any records through an LDS catalog search and also came up empty with the online Polish State Archives search.
I assume that at this point, my only recourse is to contact the Miechocin parish directly and hope that they keep archives of records at their church?
Thanks for the help[/code]
Machów today is one of districts of Tarnobrzeg city. Until 1976 it was aseparate village. Now there is a sulfur mine "Machów". Part of the headings is flooded forming artificial lake. On the terrain of Machów there are the largest in the world deposits of sulfur.
You are right, one of the way of learning if any records from this Machów exist is to contact directly with the old Miechocin parish church, now this is:
Church of Saint Marii Magdaleny
ul. Mickiewicza 93
39-400 Tarnobrzeg
Podkarpackie
