Post subject: Manifest transcription
Hi everyone,
Can anyone please help me transcribe Line 25 (Antoni Solowski)? The "Last Residence" entry appears to be written as "Biali", but there's no such place. Any suggestions as to what village that might be referring to?
Also, can anyone help me transcribe the "relative" column for his cousin in Boston?
Thank you!
Sean

Hi Barb,
Thanks for Białe!
There isn't a second page. Can you read the name of the cousin in Boston?

Don't know if the place is called Biale. That's the closest. Not easy to read who he's going to. Julyan / Julyana (Julian / Julianna) Malal / Malał /Kałal ??
Is it possible to check who lived in Boston under the address given?

Hi Sean and Barb,
Would a different copy of the manifest help some with trying to figure out the names?
Happy Monday!

Barb: I’ve asked the Mass. Historical Society for assistance with their directories to determine who lived at 115 Salem Street in July 1903.
You mentioned the cousin’s name could be “Julyan/Julyana”, but the transcriber’s “J”s don’t match for other names (“Josef”) on the manifest.
Trish: Thanks for the scan! It’s definitely clearer, but the cousin’s first name is still difficult to make out.

Could the surname "Malol" be a phonetic (Polish) interpretation of Miller?

Hi,
I really doubt the Malol/Miller connection.
Actually, I read the first name the same way Barb does, as Juljan which in English is Julian. I see in the 1910 census in Boston there is a "Julias Markell" originally from Russia. What do you think of that as a possibility?
