Post subject: Help in deciphering place name
I need help in deciphering the town name of where Piotr niedzwiecki was born and any thought on what his mothers name is. On his naturalization papers it says his last place of residence was a town named Prostki Poland/Russia. He migrated to the USA in 1905.
Thank you for your help,
Michael Wisniewski

I read it Grajewo (Grajewie, declensioned form). Father is Kajetan, mother is Salomea Bukowska.
I assume Prostcki is misspelling for Procki, though it is on the opposite side of Poland.
Maybe Płock (sounds Puótski).
I will try to fin his arrival to check the ship manifest.

Bingo! Prostki, 4 miles north of Grajewo. An additional info that may be helpful. There is a Kajetan born in 1844 in Rajgrod, 12 miles NE of Grajewo.
It could be Piotr's father. Indexes of marriage for Grajewo and Rajgrod aren't sill available in Geneteka, so I could not check Kajetan and Salomea's marriage.

Yes, indeed. LDS microfilms as well as records availabe in Archiwum Panstwowe w Białymstoku Oddział w Łomży do not cover the year 1889.
Here are the addresses of RC churches in Grajewo. Perhaps they can tell you where to find records.
