Hello could anyone advise how I would go about finding my parents siblings. I have purchased Birth, Death & Marriage certificates from Civil Registries in Poland but have found that siblings are not listed on any certificates.
I have no other way of finding as my parents have passed away & I am situated in Australia. Thank you
Chris

Hi Chris,

First, look on the addresses and anything else you can find in Birth certificates of your parents. It is possible that your grandparents were staying in the same place, same village, same parish, for all babies they could have. Looking on birth records in that civil registries plus minus 10 years may give you an answer (in case they had more babies, before and after your mother or your father).

Second, have a close look on the Marriage certificate: address, parish, witness names - it's quite common a sister or a brother have an official role. Look on all names.

What is on the Death certificate? Place, address. Did it happen a long time ago or just few years, in which case some people in the neighborhood still remember?

Do you have old papers or old pictures from your parents? Sometimes you can get albums, letters, wishes for Xmas or Easter, or any family event. Maybe address and phone book.

What about your own souvenirs, do you remember your parents speaking about a family, or friends?

It is quite exceptional to have sibillings records together - we do have it in France, so called "Livret de Famille", family book, starting with marriage, in which all subsequent events have to be recorded.

Kind regards,
Elzbieta
