Hello, whilst trying to research my Polish ancestors and using https://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/ I have come across several birth records which only list the childs name and surname and the mothers name and surname - I believe it is the same mother each time and the birth year of the children are several years in between. No father is listed. Why would the father not be listed? Just questioning - if it was a single mother would the birth have a record etc

Thank you very much for your help.

Childs name Mothers name
1887 7 Marianna Łosin Katarzyna Łosin Kargów Żerniki
1889 10 Jan Łosin Katarzyna Łosin Kargów Żerniki
1895 49 Jan Łosin Katarzyna Łosin Kargów Żerniki
1908 1 Władysław Łosin Katarzyna Łosin Kargów Żerniki

Hi Joanna,
The children's mother was unmarried. If you move the arow over the letter "i", you will see the text "matka niezamężna", which means "unmarried mother".
All children should be registered regardless of the mother's marital status. In this case, it is not necessary that all children had the same father.
Also note that Władysław, who was registered in 1908, was actually born on June 14th, 1892 - but he was only baptized in 1908.

Regards,
-Barb

Hi Joanna and Barb,

Joanna, I have the same issue with my Pisarski family. My great-grandfather, Jan Pisarski, and all his siblings were all illegitimate. It was on USA records like marriage and death records where they all listed Wincenty Belling as their father. I found it very interesting that they all named Wincenty Belling as their father, and yet I cannot find any type of record of Wincenty in the town where my great-grandfather was born. The search continues.

Good luck with your search.

Regards,
Trish

Thank you very much for explaining. I am still researching but I think I can rule out these from my search. Very helpful!
Best wishes, Joanna
