Hi,

I've been searching for several years now with no luck in finding my grandmothers side of the family in Poland.

My great-grandfather was Piotr (Peter) Wojnarski (this is how my family has always spelt it), from Lancut, born on the 14th of November 1884. He had two brothers named Velenti and Martin (or Martin). He emigrated to Canada in 1912. He married Cecilia Mary Rosol (or Rosole) in 1923. He died in 1953 in Canada.

Cecilia Mary Rosol was from Przeworsk, born on the 24th of October 1906. She had one known brother named Stanislaw. Her father was Wojciech (Vojtiech) Rosol (Rosole), from Ostrow (possibly lived in Kanczuga; southwest of Przeworsk) and went between Chicago, Canada and Poland from ~1908-1914. Cecilia's mother was Anna Szewczyk. Born on the 26th of June 1870 in Przeworsk and emigrated to Canada in 1921. Both Anna and Wojciech passed in 1953 in Canada, Cecilia died in 1989, also in Canada.

All were Roman Catholic, illiterate, farmers/labourers and lived in Galicia, Austria (present day Poland). It would be amazing if anyone could help me find out more about my family, or even just send me in the right direction.

Thanks so much.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Based on the information you have provided, it appears that this is your family. Here you can see your great-grandfather Peter (Polish: Piotr) and his siblings. The brothers you mentioned – Marcin and Walenty – as well as others, are included in this list. Piotr’s date of birth matches the one you provided. He was born in Opaleniska, which belongs to the parish of Grodzisko Dolne. His parents were Kazimierz and Antonina Kaleta. They were married in 1881 in Grodzisko Dolne. The next generation is also included.
