Post subject: Klikuszowa/Obidowa Sources using Genetka/Skanoteka
Hello there,
I have used Genetka and Skanoteka for researching my maternal family in Chocholow. Now, I am research other relatives on my mom's side per their request. I am currently researching a relative of mine, whose family is from Nowy Targ and Obidowa. Her relatives from Obidowa went to the parish in Klikuszowa. I know some names from Obidowa have been scanned for births, but some have been indexed on Genetka but not Scanned on Skanoteka. If it was indexed, there has to be something they indexed it from, is there any way to see what they indexed it from to get more information?
Thank you so much!

Hello Zack,
It would be easier to help you if you specified what years you are looking at.
I am attaching a screenshot of what is available on Skanoteka. At first glance, it may appear that the only records available for Obidowa are birth records from the years 1890-1913 (you see it listed there as "jednostka 3503"). However, marriage and death records from 1890-1943 (jednostka 4500 and 5500, respectively) can also include people from Obidowa. This might be confusing to some people. But go ahead and look there.
If you'd like to provide the names of the people you are searching for, that's fine too, I'd be happy to take a look.
Best regards,
Sophia
Note that these ranges of years are rather broad, and there will be specific years that are missing.

Hello,
Thank you so much for your help. I just wasn't entirely sure, because I know so other villages in the region used separate books for different villages. For example, my family was from Ciche, but attended church in Chocholow because it was the closest, and they kept a separate book, where all my ancestors appear. I am now going through several Nowy Targ church records, where they have been indexed and you can hit the "Skan" button, where it brings you to the section of the scans where the thing you are looking for is. I also have been researching Klikuszowa church records, and they have been indexed but you cannot hit the "Skan" button to bring you there. Are there scans of this where it was indexed from? I posted a random example below, just so you can understand how Nowy Targ has it but Klikuszowa doesn't.
Thank you so much,
Zack

Hello Zack,
Because Skanoteka has marriages for the Klikuszowa church for the years 1890 to 1943, two of the marriages in your screenshot will not be available (Jarog/Duda in 1880 and Jarog/Sadlowska in 1885). However, the third one there, Dziadkowic/Jarog in 1899 is available on Skanoteka. Here is a link to the image (right hand page, first marriage):
https://skanoteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=pg&id=4042&se=&sy=4500&kt=9&plik=003.jpg&x=1702&y=284&zoom=2.16
Now, since your example was random and the marriage you want is not likely to be the one in this link, here is the way for you to find the marriages of interest to you:
https://skanoteka.genealodzy.pl/id4042-sy4500-kt9
Click on the year of interest to you and page through the images.
Good luck!
Sophia
