Would anyone know if the records for Parafia w Suchej Beskidzkiej are on line?

Or how I would find a directory to see if there are any Pajak listings in the area.

I am researching my mother-in-law's father and having difficulty getting any information.

Her father was Julien Pajak born in 1903 in Sucha Beskidzka, Malopolskie, Poland.
His father was Wojeiech(Adalbert) Pajak and his mother was Magdalena(Marianna) Popielarczyk

Thanks for any help.

Hi Peggy,

According to the Polish Archives (Pradziad) database:
http://baza.archiwa.gov.pl/sezam/pradziad.php?l=en

Seaching for "Sucha" comes up with birth records, but only for years 1890-1899 (not the 1903 you want):
http://baza.archiwa.gov.pl/sezam/pradziad.php?l=en&mode=showopis&id=5784&miejscowosc=such
It says these birth records are found here:
State Archives in Katowice Branch in Zywiec
Zywiec 34-300, ul. Holy Cross 50A
tel: (33) 861-28-17
Fax: 0
Email: [email protected]

Maybe you could email them and ask where the 1903 birth records are located?

I then went to the town/commune's official website: http://www.sucha-beskidzka.pl/pl
Click on Information/Informator, and click on Parish/Parafia, and here is their Parish website: http://parafiasucha.pl/
There is a HISTORY page: http://www.parafiasucha.pl/?page_id=6
There is a CONTACT page: http://www.parafiasucha.pl/?page_id=14

You could try to use the CONTACT page and fill out the forms asking if they know where the birth/baptism records are located for year 1903. Maybe they will answer.

Also, I read on one of the pages something about how there were 2 parishes at this location (Parish Suskiej and Parish Stryszawa). In 1896 Parish Stryszawa split away from Parish Suskiej/Sucha. However, the membership of Parish Sucha kept growing and over-flowed the size of the church, so during 1895-1907 a new church was built for Parish Sucha. This happened during the 1903 birth you are searching for.. and this new church was consecrated officially during May 1908.

Maybe the records you seek were kept by Parish Stryszawa during the 1900-1908 years?

Lastly, during the 1903 time, it seems this area was officially part of Austria, that somehow this commune/region was bought by Austria, though surrounded by Zywiec-controlled Poland.
