Post subject: On Wings. A novel by Jonathan T. Scott.
On Wings, a novel about Polish Hussars written by Jonathan T. Scott. Below there is a synopsis of the book:
"The worlds most effective fighting force was not led by Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, or Napoleon. In all of history, only one class of warrior has ever gone undefeated for over two hundred years despite almost continuous engagement and virtually always against overwhelming odds. The horses they rode were beyond comparison in terms of stamina, courage, and strength and their swords have been described as the finest cutting tools ever used in war. Indeed, the mere sight of these men approaching a battlefield was often enough to send an enemy fleeing. This is the story of how a unique and disciplined cavalry developed its most intimidating assets groups of men that actually bore giant wings as they rode into battle and wielded weapons capable of scratching the sky."

The author, as far as I know, does not have Polish roots. It can make the novel even more objective and, I think, interesting not only for Poles.
Just read an excerpt from preface:
"(...) we are the Jesus Christ of Europe.
I sat back. Without question that comment remains the most accurate description of Poland Ive ever heard. But it is by no means wholly true. Poland is also a fighter and has had its share of conquering. Once one of the greatest powers in Europe, it can also count itself as one of the most magnanimous nations ever to grace the Earth. Indeed, it was the first country to pass laws providing for religious tolerance and it was the first to democratically elect its heads of state. In addition, it was only the second country in the world, after the United States, to draw up a constitution.(...)"
Now, the best thing at the end: you can download the whole novel (362 pages) as a ebook in pdf format from Authors OnLine website for free Just click here: http://www.authorsonline.co.uk/book/On+Wings+-+American+English+Edition/ (click on Purchase Options and then eBook Download)
I already did it and the beginning seems really promising .
