Post subject: Need help locating records for this village
Hi everyone,
Thanks to some recent translations Ryszard has done for me, I think I am closing in on finding the birth village for my great grandmother, Paulina Kryger and her family.
I need help in locating records for the following village in east Prussia:
Frankenau (German), Neidenburg, Thurau (Roman Catholic Parish)
now
Frąknowo (Polish) in Gmina Nidzica, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship
I need birth, marriage, death records for 1845-1860
Parents names are: Andrzej Kryger, Maria Radzyminska
Children are: Paulina Kryger born 1851, August Kryger born 1854, and Gottlieb Kryger born 1859
Can anyone tell me if these records are online? If not, can someone tell me the name of the archive or parish I can contact for the records?
Thanks for your help! I am so close after searching for several years.

Cynthia,
First, I had a look on the old geography book (no doubt you already did), because the most difficult is to know names over time, Polish, German alike:
http://dir.icm.edu.pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_II/402
Frankenau, p. Nibork
http://dir.icm.edu.pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_VII/31
Nibork, Niedzbork, Mazury, East Prussia, south of Krolewiec = today Kaliningrad
Thurau, Turowo, p. Nibork, stacja pociagu Wittmannsdorf (gmina Pisz)
Searching for Nibork, Niedzbork I found a German website, very well done:
Nibork, Neeberg, Neberg - same name
http://gov.genealogy.net/item/show/NEBERGKO03NT
Powiat mrągowski, Sensburg
Villages names in Polish and German in that area are under wiki Nidzica in German:
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nidzica -- Neidenburg
Prussian map:
http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/GOV:NEBERGKO03NT map
Then more search shows that Neeberg and Thurau are on the Salt Like City listing:
http://www.genealogyblog.com/?p=31287
Not much in http://szukajwarchiwach.pl/ with Nidzica or any other of your names
It seems to me that some of Prussian archives should be in Berlin archives, and I would like to learn how to search there too.
Best,
Elzbieta

Cynthia,
If the records you need are not available online, they are available on LDS films. Attached is the LDS film listing for the R.C. parish of Thurau/Turowo.
Hope this helps.

Hi Elzbieta,
Thanks so much for the research and all the links. I pieced together some of the information translating Prussian to Polish locations, but I knew I would need your expert help!
I will look into what you provided and see what I can find.
Best,
Cynthia

Thanks Dave! I hadn't checked LDS for Turowo - just for Nidzica. This is great news.
