Hi Gail,

I am unsure of which part of the Latin text you need help translating. Please enlighten me.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave, it is the verbiage in the groom's description - my abysmal latin seems to suggest that he was incarcerated?

Hi Gail,

Here is the groom’s entry: Jan Kowal, a guard of the prisoners (those incarcerated) of the city, born in Sambor, son of the late Antoni and Katarzyna née Miklewicvz.
(He was a guard at either the city jail or city prison, if it had a prison.)

Since yesterday was the summer solstice as an added bonus here is the bride’s entry: Seweryna Baczynska, a servant, born in Lwów (currently Lviv, Ukraine), a daughter of the late Julia Baczynska, a single woman.

The lines which follow deal with legalities.

Too bad that yesterday, Fathers’ Day, was not a good beach day here. It rained most of the day and the temp was in the 60s.

Vale,

Dave

Thanks, Dave, for the clarification! Jan Kowal was a guard, not a prisoner! And thanks also for the interpretation for his bride.

The weather here in Southern Ontario has been equally cold - when is it going to be summer? Sad Sad

Kind regards,
Gail
